【摘要】:Waterabsorptivenessthroughthesurfaceofanoverlaidpanelisafunctionofvariouscharacteristicsoftheoverlayandsubstrate,includingoverlayresincontent,thicknessoftheoverlay,porosity,andpermeability.Thistestmethodisusefulincomparingthewaterabsorptioncharacteristicsofdifferentoverlaidpanelproducts.Theresultsfromthistestmethodareinfluencedbyboththeperformanceoftheoverlaysystemandthepanelsubstrate.Therefore,theresultsareappropriateforcomparisonoftherelativeperformanceofanoverlaysystemwhentestedoversimilarormatchedpanelsubstrates.Note18212;Panelattributesthatmayinfluencewaterabsorptioninclude,butarenotlimitedto,paneltype,woodspecies,faceveneerthicknessandgrade,preoverlaysurfacetreatmentsuchassanding,particlegeometryandcompactionratio.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthequantityofwaterabsorbedinaspecifiedtimethroughthesurfaceofanoverlaidwood-basedpanel.Thetestmethodmeasurestherateofwaterweightgainwithinacontrolledsurfaceareaoftheoverlaidpanelsurfacewhenexposedtostandingwater.ThemethodwasadaptedfromtheprinciplesofTestMethodD5795.1.2Thistestmethodisapplicabletovariousoverlaidwood-basedpanelsincluding,butnotlimitedto,plywood(suchasMDOandHDOreferencedinPS1x2013;07),orientedstrandboard,mediumdensityfiberboard,particleboard,andhardboard.1.3Thistestmethoddoesnotaddresssamplingprocedures,numberofreplicationsnorperformancecriteriasincethosedetailsvarydependinguponthepurposeofthetestingandthetypeofproduct.Themethodisspecifictothepanelsurfaceanddoesnotevaluatewaterabsorptionoredgeswellthatmayoccuralongpaneledges.Themethoddoesnotconsiderthevariablesrelatedtoin-servicemoistureconditionsandthereforedoesnotclaimtodirectlyrelatetowaterabsorptionthatmayoccurinactualpanelusesituations.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
